It was a pretty sad moment for us when Plaids called it a day – it kinda felt like the UK DIY scene had lost a limb, and simultaneously like we’d lost one of the most important bands to shape our label almost as soon as we’d welcomed them into the fold.
Luckily though, people that involved in DIY tend not to just flat-out quit music – in fact, we’re ridiculously excited to announce that we’ll be releasing the debut EP by Joe’s new band, Soul Structure, this summer on 12″ vinyl / digital download.
While we wouldn’t want to simply bill it as ‘Plaids 2′ (for a start, it’s actually only one member of Plaids), it’s certainly something of a continuation. The frantic guitars, sing-speak vocals and rapid-fire drums are all very much still present, only with more sudden shifts in tempo and looping breakdowns that fall apart into nothing
